What IOUEZ is and how it works

Signed IOUs between people, payment tracking, reminders and split bills, on Android and the web with one account.

Updated Oct 2, 2026 · 2 min read

IOUEZ turns money between people into a clear record that both sides can see. You write down who owes whom, how much and when it is due. The other person can sign it, and every payment is tracked until it is settled.

What you can do

  • Agreements (IOUs): record money you lent or borrowed, with an optional due date, notes and a flat interest rate. See Create an agreement.
  • Signatures: both people sign on their own phone or browser. After both have signed, the money terms lock. See Sign an agreement.
  • Payments: record each payment, including part payments. The balance updates for both of you. See Record a payment.
  • Reminders: due-date reminders go out automatically in each person’s local morning. See Automatic due-date reminders.
  • Groups: split trips, rent and dinners, then settle up. See Create a group.

One account, every device

Your account works in the Android app and the web app. Changes sync to every device where you are signed in. See Use IOUEZ on Android and the web.

Good to know: IOUEZ is a record-keeping tool. It does not lend money, hold money or collect payments for you. Money changes hands the way you both choose (cash, bank transfer, a payment app), and you record it in IOUEZ.
