Partial payments and the remaining balance

Pay back in parts: each payment lowers the remaining balance until the agreement is settled.

Updated Oct 2, 2026 · 1 min read

You don’t have to repay everything at once. Every payment you record is subtracted from the total due.

What you see

  • Total due: the amount plus any interest.
  • Paid to date: the sum of all recorded payments.
  • Remaining: what is still owed.
  • Repayment progress: a bar that fills as payments come in.

While a balance remains, the status is Partially paid. When the remaining balance reaches zero, the agreement is Settled.

Paying more than the balance

If a payment is larger than what remains, IOUEZ warns you (“This is more than the remaining balance”) so you can check the amount before saving.

With an installment plan

Payments fill the installments in order. See How payments count toward installments.
