Shared and private agreements

A shared agreement lives in both people’s accounts; a private one is your own record. How to tell and how to share.

Shared agreements

When the contact is linked to their IOUEZ account, the agreement is shared between both accounts:

  • Both of you see the same amount, payments and balance, live.
  • Both of you can sign it, and the money terms lock when both have signed.
  • Both of you get the due-date reminders.
  • Deleting it removes it for both of you, and the other person is told.

Private agreements

When the contact is not linked, the agreement is private: only you see it. It is still useful as your own record. You can sign for the other person in person on your device; see Sign an agreement.

How to share

Edit the contact, add their email or phone, and use Find on IOUEZ. When they are found, new agreements with them are shared. See Add contacts and link them.

Good to know: When you create an agreement, the form tells you which kind it will be: “Shared agreement” or “Private agreement”.
