Add interest to an agreement

An optional flat interest rate on the amount, shown in the total due.

Updated Oct 2, 2026 · 1 min read

You can add an optional Interest rate (%) when you create or edit an agreement.

How it is calculated

The rate is flat on the amount: the interest is added once, not per month. For example, $1,000 at 5% means a total due of $1,050.

The Total due on the form shows the result as you type. Payments count toward this total.

Limits

  • The rate must be between 0% and 1000%.
  • After both people sign a shared agreement, the rate is locked with the other money terms.

Important: Rules on charging interest on personal loans differ by place. IOUEZ only does the math; it is not legal or financial advice. If you are unsure, ask a qualified professional.
